A celebration of innovation, craftsmanship, and Italian sporting excellence. The exhibition “Italian Sport Shoes Design” has arrived in Richmond (Vancouver), in Canada, offering visitors an immersive journey through the innovation, creativity, and craftsmanship that have made Italy a world leader in sports footwear design.
The exhibition, presented in recent weeks by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Western Canada (ICCCW), with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, the Richmond Olympic Oval Corporation, and the Sportsystem Foundation, will be on display until August 20 at the Richmond Olympic Experience Museum inside the Richmond Olympic Oval, the city of Richmond’s internationally recognized sports facility, built for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Design made in Italy
The exhibition illustrates the evolution and legacy of Italian sports product design through iconic footwear, multimedia installations, interviews with industry pioneers, and video presentations of some of the most renowned Italian sports brands. Visitors can discover how Italian companies have transformed technical sports footwear through revolutionary design, advanced technologies, and relentless research for performance and style. The exhibition highlights the intersection of sports, innovation, production excellence, and cultural heritage.
“Italian Sport Shoes design” is a project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and curated by the Sportsystem Foundation. A traveling exhibition composed of eight panels, 12 footwear items on loan from the Sportsystem Foundation Museum, seven original video interviews, designed to showcase Italian know-how and expertise worldwide. Vancouver is the second stop on a journey that began in the fall of 2025, with the first exhibition held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in recent months. 
The exhibition in Vancouver stems from the partnership between Confartigianato Imprese Vicenza and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vancouver (ICCCW) initiated during an event organized by the Sportsystem Foundation last summer at Villa Zuccareda Binetti.
